"I Woke Up Like This" - 6 Ways to Naturally Have a Good Morning

Happy Tuesday :-),

I compiled my list of 6 simple ways to naturally have a good morning, so grab a cup of tea and leave a comment if you have more steps to add into my morning routine.  🌼☀️

  1. Lemon Water/Tea - Start your digestion off in the right direction and set yourself up to have more energy throughout the day. While lemon cleanses you first thing in the morning, the warm water gives your system a good flush. This takes pressure off of your digestive system and is really a great way to set yourself up for greater energy and higher focus. Hint: You can also use lime as a lemon alternative. 

  2. Meditate + Make a Happy List - The benefits of meditation are endless. “Quiet your mind and Conquer your Day” is the motto. After sitting for 10-15 minutes, quickly jot down 10-15 things that your are grateful for or make a list about someone or something you love. 

  3. Wake up Earlier (and at the same time every day) - I did this as an experiment because I really wanted to be a “morning person” and I am still not... 🤷🏾‍♀️ but I am better in the morning because of this ;-).  If I can get up before my son, meditate, and make breakfast I know it’s gonna be a good day.

  4. Get Enough Sleep. Getting enough sleep is imperative to having a good morning. We all know the impossible feeling of waking up after staying up too late. A good way to get to sleep on time is to limit your caffeine after 3pm and get a bedtime ritual. Going to sleep in a state of appreciation is the goal. Think about your plans for the future, think about the things you are excited about and daydream yourself into a blissful state. The benefits that come with sleeping at least 6 hours each night are endless. The side effects of not sleeping enough are also endless.

  5. Don’t check emails, social media, or any screens for the first hour. What? HOW though? This is a challenge for me as I am usually anxious to catch a glimpse of my phone in the morning.  I have learned that there is value in taking care of myself first at the beginning of the day. Even if you do not have an hour, appreciation is not only the best way to start your day but it is the most beneficial for your mental health which affects your physical health.  

  6. Make a Morning Playlist. The best way to get ready is with tunes that put me in a good mood. I spend my morning in the trap, it motivates me in the best way. 🤷🏾‍♀️ If my list doesn’t work for you, make one that puts you in the best mood for your day. ;-)
